"Friends of the Dorothy Alling Memorial Library" is a group of volunteers who share their enthusiasm for books and reading and focus public attention on the library. They stimulate and support library services and facilities for the community, reward meritorious service to the library and support the First Amendment and the Freedom to Read Act as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights. Their principal fundraising activity is the Annual 4th of July book sale and volunteers are always needed. FODAL's by-laws are located here.

One of the most important things is the definition of Friends' membership. What the Library needs most is "Friends in deed." As a result, anyone can become a Friend of the Library by attending any of the monthly meetings or by volunteering at a Friends sponsored event. All donations to the Friends are greatly appreciated (and tax deductible!) but the Friends group does not make a financial donation a pre-requisite of membership.

Friends Support Little Free Libraries

The Friends support Little Free Libraries in Williston and St. George through the sponsoring of the cost of registration of a Free Little Library. Registering a Free Little Library gives the Little Library owner an official charter sign, makes the owner an official Little Library Steward, and gives the library a unique charter number. Registration also gives the owner the option to help people find their Library by adding it to the world map using a mobile app.

Learn more about registering your Free Little Library here!

Contact the friends for more information about reimbursement of the cost of registration.
